Heather OlveyMy name is Heather Olvey, and I currently teach English Language Arts to junior high students at Our Lady of the Holy Souls School in Little Rock, Arkansas. I am passionate about using young adult literature to teach students not only English content, but also about social justice issues and empathy so they can grow into honest and responsible members of society. I work closely with my colleagues to create cross-curricular units and lessons to make learning more meaningful for students. Our Educational Journey: Walking with Our Students, Motivated by Passion and Innovation is a blog I co-author with a colleague where we write about our work with students with the goal of helping other educators through our successes and failures in the classroom. In my down time I bicycle with my husband, spend time with my children and chauffeur them to their various activities, play with my Boston terriers, and read.
